What paint correction fixes

Paint correction is machine polishing that levels the clear coat to remove swirl marks, wash marring, light scratches and oxidation. It brings back depth and gloss, and it's the right prep before a ceramic coating.

We inspect the paint under shop lighting first, then recommend a one-step or two-step correction based on what we find.

Paint correction from $350

  • One-step correction from $350
  • Two-step correction from $500
  • Two-step correction plus ceramic coating from $750
  • Prices by vehicle size: coupe or sedan, SUV, truck or 3-row SUV

How paint correction works

Every correction is done in our Auburn shop under inspection lighting.

1. Inspect

We check the paint under shop lighting and agree on one-step or two-step correction.

2. Wash and decontaminate

A hand wash and clay bar so nothing scratches the paint during polishing.

3. Compound and polish

A cutting compound removes deeper defects on two-step jobs, then a finishing polish brings full gloss and clarity.

4. Keep it that way

Add a ceramic coating to protect the corrected finish. Our coating packages include a two-step correction.

Paint correction FAQ

How much does paint correction cost?

One-step correction starts at $350 and two-step at $500 for a coupe or sedan. SUVs and trucks cost a bit more.

Will paint correction remove every scratch?

It removes defects in the clear coat. A scratch you can catch with a fingernail, or one that goes through to primer, needs touch-up or paint work.

How long do the results last?

The correction itself is permanent; new swirls come from washing. A ceramic coating and safe wash habits keep the finish that way.

Do new cars need paint correction?

Often, yes. Dealer prep and lot washes leave swirls, so a polish before coating is common on new cars.

Is this the same as a buff at a car wash?

No. We use machine polishers, graded compounds and pads, and inspection lighting to remove defects instead of filling them with glaze.

Should I add a ceramic coating?

If you want the corrected finish to last, yes. Our ceramic packages include a two-step correction and start at $750.
